Job summary

Mental Health Association of Rochester is seeking a Registered Nurse - First Assist Certified to support surgeons before, during, and after procedures. You will position patients for optimal exposure and assist with visualization, tissue manipulation, suctioning, and wound closure.

The role requires an RN with RNFA training, Missouri license or compact state, BLS, and CRNFA certification. You must be able to stand and lift as needed and be prepared for on-call nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Completion of an RNFA program meeting AORN standards or equivalent for CRNFA.
• At least two years of RN experience in advanced surgical specialties.
• Active RN license in Missouri or a compact state, BLS certification, and CRNFA certification from CCI or NASC.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift, and perform repetitive movements; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Position patients for optimal surgical exposure ensuring safety and comfort.
• Implementing physician orders for visualization, tissue manipulation, retraction, suctioning, and irrigation.
• Achieving hemostasis using appropriate techniques.
• Assisting with wound closure, dressing application, and drainage systems.
• Applying evidence-based practices tailored to patient age and clinical needs.
• Maintaining alertness and safety throughout procedures.
