Job summary

Mercy in Missouri is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Surgical Recovery unit to provide high-quality post-operative care as patients transition from surgery to inpatient recovery. The RN will assess post-anesthesia patients, monitor pain and wounds, administer IV meds, and document care in the EMR.

The role includes educating patients and families, and supporting safe discharges or transfers in collaboration with surgeons and anesthesiologists.

Qualifications

• RN must hold a valid nursing license and be registered to practice in the state of Missouri.
• Demonstrated ability to provide post-operative nursing care and monitor patients recovering from anesthesia.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor post-anesthesia patients in Surgical Recovery.
• Manage pain, monitor vitals, and care for surgical sites.
• Administer IV medications as prescribed.
• Respond quickly to changes in patient condition using evidence-based protocols.
• Document care in the EMR and ensure accurate charting.
• Educate patients and families about post-op care and recovery expectations.
• Support safe discharges or transfers in collaboration with surgeons and anesthesia teams.
