Purpose:
In collaboration with supervising physicians, provides for the expansion of individualized healthcare services by diagnosing and treating adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Operating Roombased Physician Assistants will primarily work assisting in the cardiovascular operating room.
- Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview, and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs health assessments, screening, and patient care.
- Provides direct treatment and management of conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
- Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning health conditions, treatment options and community resources.
- Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.Participates in orientation and education of staff and students.
- Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant in good standing and credentialed by the Texas Medical Board with Prescriptive Authority and minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting with proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest.
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations.
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team.
- Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Salary Range:
$140,000+ depending on qualifications
