Job summary

CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care on an assigned unit. You will use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, reporting to the Department of Nursing Director. This full-time role requires strong documentation, patient education, and the ability to respond to emergencies with clinical excellence.

The position supports 36 scheduled hours per week with a shift from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., every third weekend.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse Licensure required.
• BLS required within 30 days of hire and maintained throughout employment at CGH.
• In-depth working knowledge of current concepts, principles and procedures used in patient care within an acute care setting, preferred.
• Demonstrates ability to document patient needs and assessments.
• Basic Computer knowledge required.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding required.
• Prior knowledge of drawing blood required.
• Thorough knowledge of medical equipment and instruments required.
• Demonstrates knowledge of age-related care for neonate to geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Administers and controls narcotics, medications and IV therapies in accordance with the Registered Nurse Act.
• Maintains patient records and documents to ensure an accurate record of the patient’s medical and nursing care.
• Assesses and plans patient/family education and discharge needs.
• Recognizes and responds to emergency situations appropriately.
• Accountable for problem solving to include initiating, delegating and evaluating patient care team functions.
• Promotes an environment conducive to professional practice by acting as a role model for other patient services team members.
