Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Laboratory Support role to assist in specimen handling and processing within a busy clinical lab environment. Responsibilities include logging, loading processors, sorting specimens, preparing labels, and maintaining glassware and block molds.

Applicant should have at least two years of relevant experience and college-level science units, with preferred knowledge of medical software systems. May also support transcription and general office tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Two years of applicable experience.
• Minimum 16 units of applicable Science (such as Chemistry, Biology) and Algebra at the college level.
• Preferred: knowledge of medical computer software systems.

Responsibilities

• Pick up specimens, log in specimens, load processors, sort multiple specimens, change processors, and organize supplies.
• Print labels and worksheets.
• Wash plastic supplies, glassware, and metal molds for blocks.
• Assist with equipment maintenance, inventory control, filing, and answering phones.
• Process cytology specimens including GYN, Non-GYN, FNA or Histology samples.
• Maintain stainers and stain cytology or histology samples.
• May assist with transcription or other office tasks.
