Job summary

Phelps Health, a 2000-employee hospital and healthcare system serving the heart of Missouri, seeks a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.

In this role you will perform basic care, monitor vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, and collaborate with the nursing team to ensure patient safety and comfort. A High School diploma or GED is preferred, with CNA certification preferred and BLS within 90 days of employment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Follows hospital policy on patient safety, infection prevention and safe handling.
• Provides basic patient care under supervision of a licensed nurse (e.g., vital signs, glucometer checks, toileting, feeding, bathing).
• Works with nursing staff to meet patient needs and respond quickly to requests.
• Documents all patient care activities accurately to support clinical decisions.
• Communicates pertinent patient information to the care team to improve outcomes.
