Job summary

CNSO, a neurosurgery and spine specialty practice in Wayne, NJ, seeks an experienced Medical Biller/Coder to join its revenue cycle team. You will assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II codes for neurosurgery, spine, pain management, and related services, while ensuring medical necessity and proper payer placement.

You will work with providers and billing staff to clarify documentation, fix claim errors, and stay current with CMS guidelines, NCCI edits, and payer policies.

Qualifications

• High-level knowledge of surgical terminology and anatomy.
• Strong CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10-CM coding skills.
• Knowledge of CMS guidelines and payer policies.

Responsibilities

• Assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II codes for surgical services.
• Evaluate records for completeness and medical necessity.
• Apply modifiers and ensure correct provider, place of service, and payer.
• Identify and correct undercoding/overcoding and unbundling issues.
• Collaborate with providers to improve documentation and coding specificity.
