Position Overview

The Oral Surgery Institute of the Carolinas is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and clinically skilled Surgical Inventory Coordinator to join our growing team. This unique role combines responsibility for surgical inventory management, procurement, and supply chain oversight with direct participation in patient care during oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures.

The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and comfortable balancing administrative inventory responsibilities with hands-on clinical support in a fast-paced surgical environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring our providers have the instruments, materials, and support needed to deliver exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
Surgical Inventory & Supply Management
  • Oversee all surgical inventory, supplies, implants, medications, and clinical materials across the practice.
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain appropriate stock to support daily operations and surgical schedules.
  • Coordinate purchasing, receiving, stocking, and organization of clinical supplies and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Track product usage, costs, expiration dates, and inventory trends.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and implement processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, infection control, and regulatory requirements related to inventory storage and handling.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
Surgical Clinical Support
  • Prepare treatment rooms and surgical suites for procedures.
  • Assist surgeons during oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile field and anticipating procedural needs.
  • Prepare surgical instruments, equipment, and materials prior to procedures.
  • Monitor inventory needs based on surgical schedules and upcoming cases.
  • Support patient preparation, room turnover, and post-operative workflows.
  • Ensure all instruments are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained according to established protocols.
  • Assist with documentation and clinical workflow as needed.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in oral surgery, dental surgery, periodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, or a related surgical specialty preferred.
  • Experience with inventory management, purchasing, supply chain coordination, or materials management strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterilization procedures, and infection control protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with practice management software and inventory tracking systems preferred.
  • Current dental radiography certification and applicable clinical certifications preferred, based on state requirements.
