Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical First Assist Program, State Board accredited Vocational School of Nursing, or School of Surgical Technology required.
• 2 years of Surgical Tech experience required.
• BLS required; Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant preferred or required depending on facility.

Responsibilities

• Lead First Assist for the service line and drive operational efficiency.
• Provide leadership, education, direction, support and facilitation for the team.
• Coordinate care preparation, surgeon preferences, instrumentation, turnover times and inventory.
• Collaborate daily with the OR RN Lead and staff.
• Serve as mentor/coach for orientees in the service line.

Description

The Team Lead is a responsible member of the OR Leadership team who uses available resources to meet physician and customer needs. Role reflects a balance between management and clinical practice. Works with OR Supervisor/Director to promote a team environment and maintains good communication with Director, Supervisor, Surgeons and Staff.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Under the direction of the Peri-op Services Director/OR RN Lead/Charge Nurse, performs all processes that relate to the delivery of direct patient care and assistance care in the OR prior, during and after any surgical procedure.
• As the lead First Assist for a service line, provides leadership, education, direction, support and facilitation for improving operational efficiencies within specific service.
• Includes care preparation, surgeon preferences, instrumentation, turn-over times and inventory management.
• Daily collaboration with OR RN Lead.
• Is a mentor/coach for orientees within that service line.

Experience
