Baptist Health Medical Group is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assistant for the St. Matthews area. This full-time, first-shift role supports general surgery with intra-operative assistance and office-based tasks under surgeon supervision.

The position emphasizes hands-on operating room support, patient prep, wound checks and after-hours on-call coverage. Candidates should have certification and several years of surgical assisting experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed Surgical First Assistant in good standing.
• Certification by NSAA or LCCST.
• 3–5 years' experience as Surgical First Assist in general surgery preferred.
• Certified Surgical Assistant, Surgery, RN-FA, Clinic, Medical Office

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon(s) in intra-operative care as first and second assist in the operating room.
• Assist in preparation of patient for procedure.
• Closure of incisions as delegated by the attending surgeon.
• On-call availability for after-hours/weekend surgical cases.
• Assist surgeon in the medical office, including rooming patients, interviewing and documenting history and physical exam, post-op wound checks and suture removal.
• Other office duties as requested or assigned by the surgeon(s) and/or practice manager.
