Job summary

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assistant to support the Surgeon as CST First Assistant, including positioning, prepping, draping, hemostasis, and tissue handling under supervision. Registration with the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners is required.

Full-time schedule with 10- or 12-hour shifts, one set day off per week, and weekend/holiday call rotations. Eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus and relocation up to $10,000. VWCH affiliation noted.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved discipline OR successful completion of a surgical assistant training program during military service.
• 1 year of relevant work experience; preferred experience in ortho, general, gyn, vascular, urology, bariatrics, plastics, spine, and head & neck.
• Registration with the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners.

Responsibilities

• Certified Surgical Scrub Tech/First Assistant
• Assist surgeon on surgical procedures with hemodynamics, suturing, retracting
• Assist OR staff as requested
• Adheres to practices and policies outlined to ensure patient safety and follows infection control standards
