Job summary

Westlawn Surgery Center in Murfreesboro, TN is hiring a Certified Surgical First Assistant to support surgeons in the operating room, prepare instruments, and assist with wound dressing.

This is a full-time role with no weekends, no on-call, and no holidays, offering a $20k sign-on bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. NBSTSA certification required; HS diploma and surgical tech program completed; 2 years experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technician program is required.
• NBSTSA Surgical First Assistant Certification is required.
• Two years CSFA experience in multiple specialties is preferred.
• General familiarity with medical terminology for anatomy and surgical procedures in the operating room.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons, arrange and hand over tools.
• Hold incisions open and dress surgical wounds as needed.
• Support the surgical team to ensure a smooth operative flow.

Certified Surgical First Assistant at Westlawn Surgery Center

A surgical first assistant plays a vital role in a successful surgical procedure. They are primarily in charge of assisting surgeons, such as by arranging and handing over tools, holding open incisions, and dressing surgical wounds.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Completion of a Surgical Technician Program.
• NBSTSA Surgical First Assistant Certification required.
• Two years of Certified Surgical First Assistant experience in multiple specialties or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
• Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Other skills and abilities: General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures in an operating room.
