Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking a Surgical Charge Capture Specialist to audit and process charges for all surgical cases. The role requires careful chart review and coordination with clinical and procurement teams, with emphasis on accurate documentation and charge accuracy.

Requires attention to detail, independence, and experience in charge capture or medical billing. On-site at Brooksville, FL with full-time hours Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in charge capture, medical billing, surgical services, or health information management in a hospital or surgical setting.
• CPC or RHIT certification may substitute for 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Audit surgical documentation for accuracy and review charges for each surgery performed.
• Work with daily reports in Epic and communicate with clinical and procurement teams.
• Update surgical documentation after chart review and thorough communication with clinical teams.

Responsibilities

Responsible for auditing surgical documentation for accuracy, working with daily reports in Epic, and reviewing the charges for each surgery performed. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and the ability to perform in-depth review and investigation of operative reports. The Surgical Charge Capture Specialist is responsible for accurate auditing and processing of charges for all surgical cases and updating surgical documentation after thorough surgical chart review and communication with clinical and procurement teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in charge capture, medical billing, surgical services, or health information management in a hospital or surgical setting.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
