Job summary

Qualifications

  • Master's degree from NCCPA-accredited PA program or NP program.
  • Current PA or NP license in appropriate state; NCCPA or state nursing board registry; BLS, DEA as required.
  • RNFA certification required for NP applicants when applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform directed history and physical exam for new breast patients.
  • Assess breast cancer risk using risk tools.
  • Evaluate and manage common breast complaints (pain, mass, mastitis, etc.).
  • Acquire and use basic breast ultrasound skills.
  • Perform basic breast procedures (punch biopsy, drain removal, abscess I&D, seroma aspiration, injections).
  • Provide follow-up for patients at elevated lifetime risk of breast cancer.
  • Refer to medical oncology, plastic surgery, genetics as needed.
  • Communicate results and recommendations to patients.

Position Overview
  • Perform directed history and physicial exam for new breast patients
  • Assess breast cancer risk using available risk assessment tools.
  • Evaluate and manage common breast complaints such as breast pain, nipple drainage, breast mass, mastitis, etc.
  • Evaluate and develop a risk management plan for patients at increased breast cancer risk.
  • Acquire and use basic breast ultrasound skills.
  • Perform basic breast procedures such as punch biopsy, drain removal, abcess I&D, seroma aspiration, injection of lesions.
  • Provide ongoing follow-up for patients at elevated lifetime risk of breast cancer.
  • Provide follow-up for other benign breast conditions as needed.
  • Refer to other specialties as needed (medical oncology, plastic surgery, genetics, etc.)
  • Call patients with results of and recommendations from imaging and biopsies.
  • Support both Inpatient and Outpatient patient care.

What We're Looking For

Education: Master's Degree required. Either a graduate of an NCCPA accredited physician assistant program, or NP or postMaster’sNP program required. RNFA Certification Required for NP applicants.

Experience: Oneto three yearsof experienceinHematology/Oncology preferred. Surical and Breast Oncology Experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current PA or NP license in appropriate state required. NCCPA or registry with state nursing board, BLS, DEA registry required.

Additional Skills Required: Ability to successfully complete generic and depart-specific skills validation and competency testing; Thorough knowledge of diagnosis, and pharmacology; Thorough skill in physical assessment and management of chronic illness; Communication skills, both verbal and written; general computer knowledge is preferred; ability to work independently, yet in collaboration when necessary. Ability to use problem-solving, decision making, creative and communication skills. Dedicated to patient rehabilitation and self-care.
