Job summary

Greater Charlotte Oral and Facial Surgery is seeking a team-oriented dental assistant to support doctors and clinical staff. You will help discharge patients, prepare supplies for recovery, and ensure smooth operatory flow throughout the day.

The role requires excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality. A high school diploma is required, and a dental assisting certificate is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certificate in dental assisting and/or surgical assisting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to doctors and assistants in a timely manner.
• Assist with discharge of patients.
• Stock ice packs and prepare recovery room bags.
• Prepare gauze and syringe packs for patients.
• Do laundry and fold when cleaned.
• Label autoclave bags and envelopes.
• Keep forceps organized in rooms.
• Assist with waste management in operatory and central areas.
• Clean operatory rooms between patients and set up for surgeries.
• Clean recovery rooms between patients.
• Perform x-rays as needed.
• Answer post-op calls and assist with discharge process.
• Escort patients to their transportation.
• Manage post-op gauze changes.
• Support ongoing surgeries and local anesthesia if trained.
• Assist with tray production and calls back of discharged patients.
• Log patient calls and blood pressures in the computer.
• Prepare front-office packets when finished.
• Ensure callbacks are completed the same day as surgery.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.

Position Summary

To provide support to doctors and assistants in a timely manner and assist with discharge of patients.

• Stocks ice packs and makes bags for recovery rooms
• Makes gauze and syringe packs for patients to take home
• Does laundry, including the folding once cleaned and dried
• Labels all autoclave bags and envelopes
• Keeps forceps organized in rooms
• Helps empty trash in each operatory and central before lunch and at end of each day
• Helps clean operatory rooms between patients
• Helps set up operatory for upcoming surgeries
• Cleans recovery rooms in between patients
• Performs x-rays as needed
• Helps central answer post-op concern calls as needed
• Assists with discharge of patients and safely assist patients to their escort’s automobile
• Changes patients gauze before discharging
• Provides support for ongoing surgeries
• Assists with local anesthesia surgeries if trained
• Assists central as needed with production of surgical trays
• Completes calls backs of patients that SAS discharged
• Logs call back of patients and last blood pressures in computer
• Makes packets for front office when work is finished
• Makes sure call backs are completed the same day as surgery
• Responsible for all call backs for patients having surgery
• Retrieves post op patients from rooms and helps recovery process to holding area
• Maintains upmost confidentialityAny duties required to maintain patient flow and any other extra duties office clinical manager assigns
