Job summary

Arizona Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons in Tucson, AZ is seeking a dedicated Surgical Assistant to join our experienced team. The role supports the oral surgeon during procedures, ensuring safety, efficiency and a positive patient experience from pre-op through post-op, with emphasis on instrument handling, sterilization, and precise documentation in the EHR.

Qualifications

Must maintain certification and/or license renewals as required by the state.
Must excel in forward thinking to anticipate the needs of the patient and our dental team.
May be required to travel between office locations. Must be insurable by the company’s insurance.
Must be CPR Certified

Responsibilities

Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment before, during, and after procedures.
Escort each patient to the operatory in a timely manner.
Help patients feel comfortable before, during and after treatment.
Assist in preparing patients for surgery and help monitor vital signs and anesthesia levels.
Confirm medical history with patient and make any necessary changes.
Confirm the patient is aware of and educated on the treatment being performed.
Assist the oral surgeon by passing instruments, suctioning, and providing materials during surgery.
Document patient information and surgical details in the EHR.
Assist with post-operative instructions and ensure proper follow-up.
Stock all operatories and designated sterilization areas.
