Job summary

Hartford HealthCare in Manchester, CT seeks a Surgical Assistant II to move surgical equipment, manage linen and supplies, and support a clean, safe environment for procedures. You will coordinate with anesthesia staff and nursing leadership to ensure readiness before, during, and after surgeries.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and BLS certification (or completion within 90 days). Minimum six months of related healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support or obtain within 90 days from start date and maintain competency.

Responsibilities

• Move surgical equipment and furniture as required.
• Clean tasks and linen supply management.
• Assist in equipment room set-ups and in planning for anesthesia supplies.
• Communicate effectively with managers, patients, peers, staff, physicians and other hospital departments.
• Ensure a safe and clean environment for procedures.

Position Summary

Surgical Assistant II is responsible for performing the duties of moving surgical equipment and furniture, cleaning tasks, linen supply management, schedule distribution, errands and ensuring effective communication between themself, the managers, the patients, peers, staff, physicians, and other hospital departments. Is a resource for simple and complex equipment room set-ups. Assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment. Identifies specific needs of the patient and anesthesia care provider in relation to anesthesia supplies needed prior, during, and after a surgical procedure, in collaboration with an anesthesia care provider. Reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must have certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support upon hire or receive certification within the 90 Day Introductory Period and maintain clinical competency during employment within this role.

Experience

• Minimum six (6) months’ experience in a related health care position required.
