Qualifications

• One year of Surgical Assistant experience required.
• Completion of a Surgical Assistant Program required.
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) through NBSTSA/NSAA/NCCSA required (Virginia hires before 2020 preferred).
• If employed in Virginia, must be registered with the Virginia Board of Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Routinely functions as first assist on assigned cases in multiple service lines.
• Maintains sterile technique and assists with instrument counts and room setup.
• Assists with patient positioning, prepping, draping, and draping procedures.
• Cares for patients under surgeon supervision and supports the team to ensure patient safety.
