Job summary

Signature Dental Implants & Oral Surgery is seeking a dedicated Surgical Assistant to support the oral surgeon through all phases of procedures. You will prepare and sterilize instruments, assist with anesthesia monitoring, and ensure patient comfort from pre-op to post-op in a fast-paced practice.

You will contribute to maintaining a safe clinical environment, document details in the EHR, and help educate patients about treatments while supporting a collaborative dental team.

Qualifications

• Must maintain state certifications and/or license renewals.
• Must excel at forward thinking to anticipate patient and team needs.
• May travel between office locations; must be insurable by the company.
• CPR certification is required.
• Dexterity and manual skills for handling surgical instruments and assisting with procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
• Escort each patient to the operatory in a timely manner.
• Help patients feel comfortable before, during and after treatment.
• Assist in preparing patients for surgery and monitor vital signs and anesthesia levels.
• Confirm medical history with patient and update as needed.
• Confirm the patient is educated on the performed treatment.
• Pass instruments, suction, and provide materials during surgery.
• Document patient information and surgical details in the EHR.
• Provide post-operative care instructions and ensure proper follow-up.
• Stock all operatories and sterilization areas.
• Represent the practice in a professional, pleasant manner.

The Surgical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the oral surgeon during procedures by ensuring a safe, efficient, and comfortable experience for patients. This position assists with surgical preparation, chairside support, sterilization, and patient care while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and safety.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment before, during, and after procedures.
• Escort each patient to the operatoryin a timely manner
• Help patients feel comfortable before, during and after treatment
• Assistin preparing patients for surgery and helpmonitorvital signs and anesthesia levels
• Confirm with medical history with patient and make any necessary changes needed
• Confirm the patient is aware of and educated on the treatment being performed
• Assistthe oral surgeon by passing instruments, suctioning, and providing any necessary materials during surgery.
• Accurately document patient information and surgical details into the patient’s electronic health record (EHR).
• Assistwith post-operative care instructions and ensure proper follow-up.
• Stock alloperatoriesand designated sterilization area(s).
• Must alwaysrepresentthe practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Mustmaintaincertification and/or license renewals as required by the state.
• Mustexcel inforward thinking toanticipatethe needs of the patient and our dental team.
