Maine Veterinary Medical Center in Scarborough, ME is hiring a Veterinary Surgical Technician to support surgeons and the OR team in orthopedic, soft tissue, and emergency surgeries. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year previous experience in a veterinary or animal handling role.
• Credentialed candidates (LVT, CVT, or RVT) are strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in advanced surgical procedures including orthopedic, soft tissue, and emergency surgeries.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including anesthesia induction, catheter placement, and pre-operative assessments.
• Monitor anesthesia throughout procedures, ensuring patient safety and appropriate pain management.
• Maintain sterile technique and support surgical suite preparation and turnover.
• Operate and maintain surgical and monitoring equipment.
• Perform post-operative care, including recovery monitoring and patient support.
• Accurately document anesthetic events, treatments, and surgical records.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure efficient surgical flow and exceptional patient care.

We're looking for a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Surgical Technician to join our surgery department. Maine Veterinary Medical Center (MVMC) is a VECCS level two certified Rarebreed practice that has full in-house laboratory capabilities, a fluoroscopy suite for interventional procedures, a GE 64-slice CT, MRI, respiratory ventilator, in-house telemetric monitoring, ultrasound and endoscopy. MVMC is a multi-specialty hospital offering services in Emergency & Critical Care, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, and Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine. Our collaborative team of experienced emergency clinicians and criticalists enables us to provide advanced, high-quality care to a knowledgeable and dedicated client base.
