Job summary

OSF HealthCare seeks a Surgical Support Specialist II to help ensure smooth operating room flow and patient care coordination before and after surgery. You will transport patients and assist with care and clerical tasks to support a positive environment for patients and families.

The role emphasizes coordinating with the surgical team, maintaining orderly patient flow, and using hospital EMR systems to document care. This is an hourly, on-site position in Peoria, IL.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association within first month of hire.
• Six or more months of experience assisting individuals with activities of daily living.

Expected pay for this position is $18.27 - $20.29/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Surgery Support Specialist II helps ensure that the surgical environment runs smoothly, and that patients receive appropriate care before and after surgery. This role focuses on effective coordination between the surgical team and the patients' families. Surgery Support Specialist II transports patients and assists with patient care and clerical functions to create a supportive atmosphere for patients and their families and to ensure well-coordinated patient flow.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

• High School Diploma/GED

Licensure/ Certification

• BLS by the American Heart Association within first month of hire

Experience

• Six or more months of experience in assisting an individual(s) in activities of daily living; this includes but is not limited to: personal hygiene, grooming, bathing, and eating.

Other Skills/ Knowledge

• Work requires basic understanding of communication equipment such as pages, phones, overhead paging system, and documenting in hospital Electronic Medical Record.
