About the Surgery Scheduler Role

Upperline Health is seeking a Surgery Scheduler who will be responsible for scheduling surgeries for assigned physician(s). Responsibilities include coordinating surgical procedures with multiple hospitals and surgery centers, scheduling and obtaining pre-operative testing, writing, and communicating surgery orders, and collecting necessary documentation for surgeries. This individual will work closely with patients, physicians, and surgery location to provide accurate, timely, and responsive paperwork. This position will report directly to the Regional Manager, while also working collaboratively with the site Medical Assistant, Patient Services Coordinator, and/or the Physician. This person will be based in their respective market(s).

What You’ll Do:

  • Coordinates and schedules surgeries and follow-up appointments as designated by physician.
  • Obtain authorizations for podiatric surgeries.
  • Interacts with patients’, physicians, and other staff members both within the clinic and all outside facilities providing accurate. Timely, and responsive information.
  • Documents work process as required.
  • Follows all written protocols and procedures of the clinic.
  • Demonstrates courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and their families.
  • Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols.
  • Books surgeries based on physician volume maintaining appropriate standard turn-around times.
  • Identifies scheduling barriers and implements solutions to improve scheduling results-based on pre-determined goals.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the staff Physicians, management, and outside vendors.
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • A high school diploma / GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and clinical/medical practice operations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with proven ability to work remotely and/or autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Excels in a flexible and fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience as a Surgery Scheduler is desirable.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills as well as a professional appearance.
  • Must possess professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in front of a computer.
