Job description

Build your hospital career in surgery with visible patient impact, supportive leadership, technology-enabled practice, and an appealing Charlotte-area lifestyle as a Surgery Registered Nurse RN Operating Room with broad specialty exposure and room to grow.

This health system offers an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse the opportunity to practice in a patient-focused environment where interdisciplinary collaboration, sound clinical judgment, and safe surgical care are valued. Clinicians can expect an organization committed to effective workflows, professional autonomy, quality improvement, and technology that supports rather than replaces nursing expertise. For perioperative nurses exploring hospital jobs in the Charlotte, North Carolina region, this role combines organizational stability with the ability to make a measurable difference during critical moments in each patient’s care.

Within the Operating Room and Surgical Services department, the Surgery Registered Nurse RN will gain diverse clinical exposure across several high-value specialties. Orthopedic cases performed in partnership with OrthoCarolina include joint replacements, complex arthroscopies, fracture procedures, and specialized hand, foot, and ankle corrections. The surgical program also supports standard and complex cesarean sections and reproductive organ interventions in OB/GYN surgery. Urological services encompass advanced evaluations, stone management, and bladder and prostate oncology procedures. Vascular and thoracic surgery adds experience with thoracoscopic procedures, renal dialysis grafts, and peritoneal catheters. This varied case mix creates a professionally rewarding environment for an Operating Room RN who wants to strengthen specialty knowledge, adaptability, and perioperative expertise.

The Operating Room Registered Nurse will function within the hospital’s perioperative nursing leadership structure while collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, preoperative and post-anesthesia nurses, and other clinical partners. Day-to-day responsibilities may include assessing patients, preparing the surgical suite, verifying readiness and documentation, maintaining sterile and safe practice standards, circulating cases, coordinating supplies and equipment, supporting efficient room flow, and responding decisively to changing patient needs. The Surgery Registered Nurse RN will also contribute to infection prevention, regulatory compliance, accurate handoffs, quality initiatives, and a culture in which team members communicate early to protect patients and keep procedures moving safely.

For an experienced Surgery Registered Nurse RN Operating Room, this position can become a strategic next step rather than another lateral move. The breadth of Surgical Services supports continued development in orthopedic, women’s health, urological, vascular, and thoracic procedures while creating opportunities to deepen specialty expertise. Depending on organizational programs and eligibility, an Operating Room Registered Nurse may also explore precepting, committee participation, continuing education, specialty certification, charge responsibilities, clinical advancement, or future leadership pathways. Candidates are encouraged to discuss available education resources, scheduling practices, mentorship, and internal mobility during the interview process.
