Job summary

The Supervisory Transportation Security Inspector (Surface) at TSA’s Surface Operations is based at MSP/MCI and DHS. The role combines independent regulatory inspections with leadership of a team of TSIs to ensure compliance across surface transportation.

You will coordinate security initiatives, respond to incidents, mentor staff, and work with regional staff and industry partners to strengthen protections and reduce vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

• Leads in the administration of compliance and enforcement programs designed to protect the nation’s public transportation systems.
• Performs the full range of regulatory compliance activities in inspections, structured oversight, and other compliance activities in Surface Operations.
• Serves as a technical specialist and primary point of contact to the RSD, ROD, regional staff, and industry stakeholders on surface-related transportation security regulations.
• Provides guidance to lower-level technical staff on complex issues and serves as a team leader in inspections and non-inspections activities.
• Supervises and mentors a team of Transportation Security Inspectors in Surface Operations.
• Coordinates, participates in tests/audits, vulnerability assessments, and plans work with priorities and performance standards.
• Reviews data in PARIS and SDMS, and collaborates with stakeholders to address complex issues related to security operations.
• Provides input to budget requests and coordinates with customers outside the immediate organization when required.
