Army National Guard Units in the United States (NC) seeks a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (WG-5801) to perform diagnosis, routine repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat and automotive vehicles. You will inspect, disassemble and replace parts, operate basic diagnostic tools, and conduct readiness checks in various locations.

The role requires ability to work in remote locations, maintain documentation, and potentially handle electronics repair of communication equipment.

Qualifications

• 12 months of experience required for WG-5801-08 level.
• 18 months of experience required for WG-5801-10 level.
• Ability to diagnose, repair and maintain heavy-duty mobile equipment and combat vehicles.

Responsabilités

• Perform limited diagnosis, routine repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles.

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1193000/D1194000 and is part of the NC G4, National Guard (G4 - FMS #2 / MD 5122-038/040).

Key Responsibilities

As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER, WG-5801-08 (must have 12 months) , you will perform limited diagnosis, routine repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles; perform limited diagnoses to determine the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses basic test equipment such as compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters and pressure gauges; Removes, replaces, adjusts, cleans and installs parts and components such as wheel seals, switches, sensors, fuel pumps, water pumps, power steering pumps, brakes, filters, radiators, bearings, springs, shock absorbers, wheel cylinders, starter motors, mufflers, battery cables, and other items of similar complexity; independently performs routine repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems using standard parts; conduct limited readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity; may perform routine maintenance and limited repairs on basic communication equipment such as radios, field telephones, amplifiers, switchboards, recorders, intercoms by removing and replacing components and elements; In conjunction with or in the absence of the Tools and Parts Attendant, may maintain supply documentation, and the receipt, store, issue, and inventory of tools and parts used in the trades operation; perform other duties as assigned As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC, WG-5801-10 (must have 18 months), you troubleshoot, performs maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles; troubleshoot equipment and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges, and computer diagnostic tools; remove and disassemble engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems; Independently perform repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders and worn brake shoes, voltage regulators, generators, injector pumps, and fuel pumps; conduct readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity; may maintain and repair electronics communication equipment by removing and replacing components and elements; assist in the maintenance of production reports and records, and makes recommendations to the supervisor; Performs other duties as assigned.
