The RI Combined Support Maintenance Shop in Rhode Island is seeking a Surface Maintenance Mechanic (Title 32) to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, inspect, and overhaul a broad range of complex vehicles and equipment with interconnected mechanical and non‑mechanical systems.

Qualified applicants must meet a military grade requirement (E‑1 through E‑7) and have the ability to validate compatible AFSC/MOS; dual-status technician rules apply.

• Experience or training demonstrating knowledge of equipment to perform routine maintenance tasks and use common tools and equipment.
• Ability to diagnose, repair, overhaul and modify complex vehicles, equipment, and systems.
• Experience applying independent judgment to select methods and techniques for solving unusually complex maintenance problems.

Job description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (Title 32), PD# D1195000 and is part of the RI Combined Support Maintenance Shop. The purpose of this position is to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, inspect, and/or overhaul a variety of complex combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment having complicated mechanical and non-mechanical systems with a variety of interconnected systems.

MILITARY GRADE REQUIREMENT:

E-1 through E-7 You must indicate your rank somewhere on your resume. Compatible Military Assignments: For Dual-Status Technician positions service affiliation under Title 32 USC 709 is required. Military skill set is determined by AFSC/MOS requirements. Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC/MOS in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC/MOS.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:

Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Experience or training diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems. Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems. Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems.
