The Supervisor for EVS Training and Quality Compliance supports assigned areas within the Environmental Services Department by leading education, competency validation, performance auditing, and quality improvement initiatives. Responsible for onboarding, training, monitoring, and evaluating new associates during their first ninety days to ensure readiness for independent assignment under their designated supervisor. This role ensures all EVS associates maintain compliance with departmental standards, regulatory requirements, and infection prevention practices through ongoing education, inspections, and competency verification.


Work Experience:


Three years of Environmental Services experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is required, of which one year must be training, education, or staff development, which may include supervisory training responsibilities.


Hands - on experience with infection - prevention practices, including proper cleaning and disinfection standards across various clinical areas, and must have worked within a regulated healthcare environment, preferably one accredited by The Joint Commission.


License/Registration/Certification:


Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (T-CSCT) Train the Trainer certification; may be obtained within two years of being in the position.


Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (T-CHEST) or Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) may be obtained within two years.


Education and Training:


High School graduate or equivalent. Associate's degree in a related field preferred.


Skills:



  • Must be able to read, speak and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow and give oral and written instructions, safety precautions, work with computers and utilize forms and management/diet resources.

  • Proficient in implementation and supervision of environmental services operations.

  • Ability to audit performance and provide constructive coaching feedback.

  • Strong observational and documentation skills

  • Must display leadership qualities and possess highly effective communication skills.

  • Must be computer proficient with experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Able to work in a variety of environments, including exposure to blood, heat, water, cold, chemicals, electric hazards, patients, noise, odors and unpredictable situations with many interruptions.

  • Able to attend and actively participate in meetings/conferences.

  • Requires physical, mental and emotional strength, manual dexterity and mobility.

  • Speak, listen, and write in a clear positive and professional manner using interpersonal skills, goodjudgment and empathy.
