Job summary

Sun Chemical Corporation, a leading manufacturer in packaging and graphic solutions, seeks a Production Supervisor to lead daily operations in the Production Department. You will schedule orders, manage manpower, and ensure safe, efficient production with adherence to SOPs and safety standards.

Responsibilities include coordinating with QC and Maintenance, managing housekeeping, and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• OSHA knowledge required.
• Batch management experience is helpful.
• Strong communication and leadership skills are essential.
• Some knowledge of SAP.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Word and Excel, and organizational skills.
• Good decision-making ability and proactive problem solving during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and control day-to-day Production Department activities to meet customer requirements and schedules.
• Ensure SOP adherence through training and clear communication of instructions to operators.
• Maintain good housekeeping and participate in plant safety programs and hazard identification.
• Support quality control and maintenance programs; coordinate with Maintenance for timely equipment upkeep.
• Monitor inventory and material usage; report equipment utilization and productivity metrics.
• Document and report manufacturing issues to Management and escalate problems as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

Under the general supervision of the Production Superintendent, is responsible for the day to day running of the Production Department. Responsible for meeting all production and shipping requirements in a safe, timely and efficient manner. Works with the QC Laboratory and Maintenance Departments in developing and implementing quality and maintenance programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Plan, organize and control the day to day activities of the Production Department to meet customer requirements including the scheduling of orders, manpower planning and the effective use of equipment.
• Ensure that all employees understand and follow standard operating procedures through training programs and control systems. Also communicate special instructions to operators when required and to enforce all plant rules and regulations.
• Handle complaints, grievances, and counseling as required. Process personnel and payroll paperwork as required and keep Management advised of any potential human or labor relations problems.
• Ensure that good housekeeping practices are maintained in all areas of the plant.
• Be actively involved in the plant safety programs, reviewing and enforcing all safety and health regulations, providing safety training and investigating any safety problem or accident within department.
• Ensure compliance with hazardous waste programs and hazard material identification systems.
• Support the laboratory in all areas of quality control including process improvements, sampling and manufacturing techniques, raw material approval and work off programs.
• Coordinate with Maintenance Department to implementan effective and timely maintenance program to ensure proper equipment life.
• Work with inventory control in measuring and controlling raw material and ink losses through accurate measuring and control systems.
• Document and report on equipment utilization, department productivity and overtime performance.
• Report and discuss any manufacturing or delivery problems with Management.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• This position also requires a good working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
• Batch management experience is helpful.
• Ability to have good communication and leadership skills.
• Some knowledge of SAP.
• Knowledge of computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel) and organizational skills
• Good decision-making ability.
• Must be able to Initiate problem solving as issues arise during the shift.

EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2-3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
