Job Summary

The Supervisor Multimodality supervises, plans, organizes, and improves work processes in Radiology Services. This position handles department orientation, teaches, coaches, supervises staff, and performs imaging exams in CT, MR, or Rad. The Supervisor also acts as a department liaison when the manager is absent.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Oversees imaging services delivery and quality, focusing on turnaround times, exam quality, and patient preparation. Ensures timeliness, accuracy, and cost-efficiency, complying with System and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
• Performs procedures as needed due to workload or complexity. Ensures adequate staffing, supplies, and resources are available to meet clinical demands.
• Schedules, monitors, evaluates, and modifies staffing patterns to provide services in assigned areas. Interviews, counsels, and completes performance evaluations.
• Trains new staff and ensures all registrations and certifications are current, on file and up to date.
• Partners with the management team and staff. Conducts multidisciplinary staff meetings to ensure consistent and timely communication throughout the department.
• Facilitates goal setting for staff working in the imaging sections.
• Monitors goals, achievements and ensures the outcome of the goals is reflected in the annual performance evaluations.
• Encourages employees to join Employee Satisfaction Surveys, Patient Safety surveys, and other feedback activities. Provides service feedback results to staff. Initiates a plan of action for improvement areas.
• Partners with Management to develop a department budget. Provides feedback on new and replacement equipment and services needed for growth. Monitors operational budgets and implements corrective action plans for negative productivity and expense variances.
• Promotes a culture of service excellence in imaging sections. Partners with management to communicate service excellence, patient-centered expectations, and customer satisfaction survey results.
• Holds self and staff accountable for service excellence in their areas. Facilitates reward and recognition in the imaging sections of Radiology.
• Acts as a Radiology liaison to other departments. Develops and maintains cooperative relationships with physicians and other medical departments. Gathers and exchanges information, and develops and implements solutions to problems.
• Assists in developing, reviewing, revising, submitting and implementing policies, procedures and goals that help Department and System goals.
• Assists in ensuring the imaging sections comply with JCAHO, TDH standards, and other accrediting bodies.
• Identify patient service needs using AIDET when talking with patients. Ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establish personal rapport with potential and actual patients and others who know about the service requirements.
• Coordinates and runs groups focusing on patient safety, customer service, and performance improvement. Also focuses on the environment of care, employee engagement, physician engagement, quality improvement, and inter-departmental relations.
• Participates in mutual governance, department, hospital, or professional organizations and committees. This includes LEAN initiatives, 5S projects, inter-departmental committees, professional organization participation, and QC assurance with radiologists.

• Ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. Remain professional, review patient satisfaction scores, and develop action plans when needed.
• Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, education, and skills for appropriate care of newborns, pediatric, young adults, and geriatrics.
• Able to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.
• Able to make tactical conclusions about work allocation and direction for supervised employees using guidelines, policies, or procedures. Able to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.
• Able to train and evaluate the performance of supervised staff. General computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
• Able to take call, if required.

• CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -

Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography in two imaging modalities. Work 25% of the time in the second modality. Approved modalities are: ARRT-R, ARRT-CT, ARRT-CV, ARRT-M, ARRT-MR, ARRT-N, ARRT-S, ARRT-VI, ARRT-BS, ARRT-BD, ARRT-CI, RDMS-AB, RDMS-BR, RDMS-FE, RDMS-OB, RDMS-PS, RVT, CNMT, or ARMRIT.
