Job summary

Ultipro is seeking a Production Supervisor in Texas to lead a high-volume sheet metal manufacturing team. You will train and supervise staff, assign work, monitor safety, quality, and delivery, and coordinate with maintenance and engineering to resolve issues.

The role demands strong leadership, hands-on knowledge of metalworking machinery and stamping presses, and familiarity with Daikin/FMS systems. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in manufacturing environment, preferably sheet metal/fabrication.
  • 2+ years in a leadership role in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • PDS/FMS Certification obtained through in-house training.

Responsibilities

  • Train, instruct and supervise employees to meet production demands safely and on time.
  • Inspect lines and ensure products meet job specifications, taking corrective action when needed.
  • Provide work assignments, procure parts, communicate production demands, and perform quality and safety audits.
  • Maintain shifts' safety and training programs to minimize accidents and ensure a safe environment.
  • Meet or exceed metrics for safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Document production reports, scrap tickets, accident reports, and discipline notices; enforce policies.
  • Use lean tools to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality and safety.
  • Support additional projects to meet business needs.

Job description

  • Train, instruct, and supervise employees using established production methods to produce a quality product in a safe and timely manner to meet production demands.
  • Inspect each line and check the product is being run according to the specifications of the job; take corrective action to resolve problems.
  • Provide work assignments, procure parts, and communicate production demands to employees as well as perform quality and safety audits and generate maintenance requests.
  • Help to maintain the shifts safety and training programs to minimize accidents/injuries and to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Meet and or exceed company metrics including safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Document and complete production reports, scrap tickets, accident reports, and discipline notices while promoting and enforcing company policies, safety rules and work instructions.
  • Utilize accurate measurement tools to track area key indices, to identify unfavorable trends, and to take corrective action.
  • Complete required systems work: Mapics, Kronos, Zone etc.
  • Proactively use Lean tools to improve operating efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality and safety results
  • Maintain high employee morale through good employee-management relations. team building and through knowledge of policies where applicable. Recognize and inform higher supervision of hourly employees' capabilities.
  • Participate in additional projects/activities to support ongoing business needs.
Nature & Scope
  • Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of a support, production or operations team
  • Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion
  • Decisions and problem-solving are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from manager
  • Accountable for the support or production operations team including subordinate work leaders
  • Typically does not spend more than 20% of one's time performing the work supervised
Knowledge & Skills
  • Effective leadership skills; able to envision, develop, direct, manage, delegate responsibility and authority and motivate employees
  • Strong working knowledge of metal working machinery and stamping presses. – Soft Tool and Hard Tool
  • Knowledge of Production Daikin System and Flexible Manufacturing System (in-house training /certification)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Effective problem solving skills in a fast past manufacturing environment
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job
Experience
  • 5+ years in manufacturing environment, preferably in sheet metal/fabrication
  • 2+ years in a leadership role in a high volume manufacturing environment
Education/Certification
  • PDS/FMS Certification – obtained through in-house training program

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations. High volume manufacturing environment with forklift traffic. May have higher noise volume in areas – hearing protection required. Requires ability to stand for long periods up to 8 to 10 hrs. May need to lift up to 40lbs.
