Job summary

Opportunity Services in Rochester, MN is seeking an Employment Specialist to provide job coaching and long-term supports for individuals who are independently employed in the community.

You will work with clients to identify abilities, deliver on-the-job training, and coordinate with employers, teams and OS to support meaningful employment opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years of experience in related field.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including independent problem solving and conflict resolution.
• Passionate about helping adults with disabilities.
• Must be driven to succeed with strong reliability.
• Attention to detail and accurate and timely completion of duties.

Responsibilities

• Assists clients with identifying their own unique abilities, vocational potential and develop existing skills to gain and maintain meaningful employment.
• Provide job specific instruction and supports including the use of adaptive technology and hands on coaching as necessary.
• Provide pre-employment, on the job training, job coaching, and long-term retention supports per each client's individual needs and desires.
• Provide supervision and support to the client according to their individual career plan and consistent with employer practices.
• Serve as a liaison and community connection with business and industry personnel, stakeholders, teams and Opportunity Services.

Hours and Benefits of the Supported Employment Specialist:

• The starting pay range is $19.00-$22.00/hour. Education and experience are considered when extending offers.
• Scheduled shifts are primarily Monday-Friday daytime hours.
• Some limited nights and weekends may be required.
• Located in Rochester, MN

Responsibilities of the Supported Employment Specialist :

• Provide job specific instruction and supports including the use of adaptive technology and hands on coaching as necessary.
• Provide pre-employment, on the job training, job coaching, and long-term retention supports per each client's individual needs and desires.
• Provide supervision and support to the client according to their individual career plan and consistent with employer practices.
• Serve as a liaison and community connection with business and industry personnel, stakeholders, teams and Opportunity Services.
• Commute to all client and team meetings and complete mileage reimbursement reports each month
• Maintain, create, and follow a self-directed, flexible schedule based on OS, client, and team meetings

Requirements of the Supported Employment Professional:

• Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years of experience in related field
• Passionate about helping adults with disabilities
• Must be driven to succeed with strong reliability
• Attention to detail and accurate and timely completion of duties.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including independent problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
• Communicate effectively with staff, supervisors and client teams
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including limited evenings and weekends
• Ability to lift/transfer 40 lbs.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, torque, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, and reach above shoulders
