Job summary

North Mississippi Commission on Mental Illness and seeks qualified staff to provide engagement, assessment, and supported employment services. Responsibilities include job placement, coaching, and follow-along supports with coordination across clinical teams.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree related to working with individuals with serious mental illness, CPI certification, and the ability to meet DMH and Communicare training requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with relevant work/school experience preferred. Must obtain any certification as required by DMH and maintain it continuously throughout employment.
  • Must have at least a bachelor’s degree in a field related to working with individuals with serious mental illness and relevant work/school experience preferred. Must obtain any certification as required by DMH and maintain it continuously throughout employment.
  • Must be CPI certified or able to complete CPI training and any other training required by DMH and Communicare. Ability to relate positively to individuals served through the Supported Employment Program
  • Pass a background check.
  • Must have transportation or access to transportation with a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and insurable driving record throughout employment

Responsibilities

  • Engagement, assessment, job placement, job coaching, and follow-along supports.
  • Conduct weekly supported employment supervision meetings and attend clinical treatment teams as needed.
  • Communicate with mental health treatment team leaders to ensure integrated services and problem-solve program issues.
  • Review client outcomes with employment specialists and set quarterly improvement goals.
  • Accompany employment specialists into the field monthly to observe and coach job development.
  • Document services provided per Communicare, DMH, and Medicaid regulations.
  • Submit reports in a timely manner.
  • Attend orientation, staff development activities, and trainings as required by Communicare, DMH, or oversight agencies.
  • Screen referrals to ensure timely response and follow-through.
  • Conduct outreach with agency staff and area employers.
  • Work under supervision of the Clinical Director or other supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Duties:

  • Communicates with mental health treatment team leaders to ensure that services are integrated, to problem solve programmatic issues, and to be a champion for the value of work.
  • Reviews current client outcomes with employment specialists and sets goals to improve program performance at least quarterly.
  • Accompanies employment specialists, who are new or having difficulty with job development into the field monthly to improve skills by observing, modeling, and giving feedback on skills.
  • Document services provided in accordance with Communicare, DMH, and Medicaid regulations.
  • Submit any reports requested in a timely manner.
  • Attend and successfully complete any orientation, staff development activities, other trainings as required by Communicare, the Department of Mental Health, or other oversight agencies.
  • Screen each referral to ensure timely response follow through.
  • Conduct outreach activities with agency staff and area employers.
  • Work under the supervision/monitoring of the Clinical Director or other supervisor as designated.

Requirements
