Job summary

Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, KY is seeking a Per Diem Patient Care Assistant to support the rehabilitation department. You will assist clinicians with patient care, position patients, transport supplies, use safe lifting techniques and help keep care areas clean and organized.

The role requires no prior experience; a high school diploma or GED is preferred, and BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Weekend hours and per diem status apply.

Job Summary:

Performs designated duties to assist the department staff in the areas of patient care and departmental and equipment orderliness and cleanliness.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assists clinicians with the care of patients as directed.
  • Assists clinicians with positioning patients as directed.
  • Transports patients and materials as directed.
  • Utilizes safe lifting techniques and appropriate assistive devices.
  • Cleans and maintains patient care areas.
  • Maintains equipment and medical supplies as directed by clinicians.
Skills and Attributes:
  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Works under minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Learning and applies knowledge at a basic level relying heavily on senior staff for troubleshooting.
Position Requirements:
  • Work Experience No experience required
  • Education High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher preferred
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
