Job summary

Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center is seeking a part-time Support Specialist to deliver skills training and provide crisis management in both group and individual settings. You will work under the treatment team to implement person-centered plans and ensure safety and quality care.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least two years in behavioral health, with driver’s license valid per policy. This is a night shift position at the Florence location, non-exempt under FLSA.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED plus two years of behavioral health experience.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree may substitute for experience.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license per driving policy requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Advocates for Eskenazi Health’s mission: Care, Teach and Serve, especially for Marion County’s vulnerable populations.
  • Embraces Recovery Model and motivational interviewing principles.
  • Provides skills training to clients in group and individual settings per treatment plan.
  • Performs crisis management and emergency interventions including CPR and CPI techniques.
  • Reports to treatment team on client progress, barriers to success, and level of care changes.
  • Ensures timely completion of documentation and correct billing procedures.
  • Maintains safety in the environment and adheres to orders from nursing/physician.
  • Completes continuing education as required by the agency.
  • May transport clients using company or personal vehicle as directed.

The Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Centeroffers both inpatient and outpatient services, including several outreach centers as well as clinic- and community-based services.

Job Role Summary

The Support Specialist provides skills training and development to clients as required by medical necessity outlined in the person-centered treatment plan . This position also provides crisis management and emergency interventions including but not limited to CPR and CPI interventions, as well as provides quality case management as required by medical necessity and directed by the treatment team.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health’s mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County; models Eskenazi Health’s values of Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development and Excellence
  • Embraces, understands, and operates under the Recovery Model, including AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) and the spirit of motivational interviewing
  • Provides skills training and development to clients in group and individual settings as guided by medical necessity outlined in the person-centered treatment plan
  • Provides crisis management and emergency interventions including but not limited to cardiopulmonary resuscitation and approved area-specific crisis intervention techniques
  • Reports to treatment team in staffing including but not limited to successes and challenges, assessment of client progress, barriers to success, any level of care changes, etc.
  • Meets the agency’s standard of providing the appropriate service at the right time, right place, and right frequency as determined by the client’s level of need
  • Meets the agency’s standard of timely completion of all documentation including interpreting and applying service and billing procedures according to client needs as well as completing billing according to guidelines for timeliness and accuracy
  • Establishes and maintains a safe environment at all times through on-going assessment of service environment and intervenes as indicated in person-centered treatment plan as well as by nursing or physician order
  • Meets agency requirements for continuing education
  • May provide transportation in company provided vehicle and/or personal vehicle as directed by treatment team and guided by medical necessity; maintains a copy of Eskenazi Health’s vehicle-related accident reporting procedures in vehicle
Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED plus two years of experience in behavioral health; or
    • Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in human services may substitute for experience
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license that meets Eskenazi Health’s driving policy requirements
