Job summary

Qualifications

  • Education: HS/GED and Associate of Science degree required; Bachelor's in biological science preferred.
  • Experience: 1.5 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Internal technical experience equivalent to Technician 2 or above preferred.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Computer skills commensurate with essential functions and validated systems.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively perform, document, review and verify all procedures, materials, and results in compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
  • Perform laboratory skills with increasing independence, including sample processing and slide preparation.
  • Accurately complete administrative tasks such as filing data and quality data review.
  • Perform routine maintenance activities with increasing independence.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, leadership, scientific/technical team, sponsors, and study directors.
  • Maintain discipline, study/project, and inventory trackers.
  • Draft study deviation documentation or supporting information with guidance from staff.
  • Maintain familiarity with business continuity procedures during system interruptions.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and assist with laboratory inspection teams.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Support Scientist I for our 2nd Shift Clinical Pathology Team in Mattawan MI.

A Support Scientist I within the Clinical Pathology discipline is responsible for maintaining and further developing proficiency in the execution of assigned core functions according to protocol, SOP, and GLP regulations. The Clinical Pathology discipline is responsible for the scheduling, setup, processing, data production, QC, and analysis of biological specimens with an emphasis on producing a high-quality outcome. In addition to the basic core functions, technicians may be required to lead process improvement initiatives, complete cross-functional training, support ongoing global initiatives, and participate in sponsor and vendor audits.

The pay for this position is $23/hr annually USD + 10% shift differential. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Effectively perform, document, review and verify all procedures, materials, and results in compliance with applicable regulatory standards as applicable (protocols, methods, SOPs, etc.).
  • Effectively demonstrate the behaviors and performance characteristics as described in the CRL DNA and departmental expectations.
  • Perform laboratory skills with increasing independence, including labeling, slide consolidation, basic client, HCC, TK sample processing, slide preparation/fixation, collecting urine volumes, and fecal sample preparation.
  • Accurately complete administrative tasks such as filing of physical data, and quality data review as assigned.
  • Perform routine and non-routine maintenance activities (e.g. cleaning centrifuges, counters, defrosting freezers, etc.) with increasing independence.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, leadership, scientific/technical team, sponsors, and study directors.
  • Maintain discipline, study/project, and inventory trackers in support of Scientists.
  • Draft study deviation documentation or supporting information with guidance from scientific or technical staff.
  • Maintain familiarity and follow business continuity procedures during system interruptions.
  • Actively participate in process improvement initiatives and assist with laboratory inspection teams.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education: HS/GED and Associate of Science degree required. Bachelor's degree in biological science, preferred.
  • Experience: One and a half to three years of relevant experience required.
  • Internal technical experience equivalent to a Technician 2 or above preferred.
  • Certification/Licensure: NA
  • Competency required for departmental technical skills.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Computer skills, commensurate with Essential Functions, including the ability to learn a validated system.
  • Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts, and/or extra shifts, sometimes on short notice.
  • Ability to work under specific time constraints.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without a sponsor visa, now or in the future.
