Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is seeking a Support Route Driver to fill in on open routes and support daily delivery operations. The role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules while upholding safety and service standards.

Hours are Monday–Friday with overtime potential; starting wage is $20.00–$24.00 per hour. Candidates must be 21+, possess a valid license, and pass DOT requirements. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Hold a valid Driver's License with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Cover open, vacant or temporarily unassigned route.
• Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner.
• Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle.
• Load the truck in an organized manner to maximize space and prevent damage.
• Collect payments for certain packages.
• Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers.
• Notify management of any problems or discrepancies.
• Maintain professional appearance and vehicle cleanliness.
• Travel may be required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

The corporate headquarters and main sort facility is located in St. Cloud, MN. We currently employ over 1,800 employees company wide and over the years we have expanded throughout the Midwest.

Job Summary

The Support Route Driver fills in on open or unassigned routes to support daily delivery operations. This role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules based on business needs while maintaining safety, service, and delivery standards.

Hours and Wages

• Monday- Friday, 7:30AM- completion of route
• 10-15 hours of overtime may be expected each week
• Voluntary OT on weekends (as needed)
• Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week
• Starting wage: $20.00- $24.00 per hour

Duties And Responsibilities

• Cover open, vacant or temporarily unassigned route based on business needs
• Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
• Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
• Load the truck in an organized manner to effectively use space and prevent damage to packages
• Collect payments for certain packages delivered
• Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers
• Notify management of any problems or discrepancies
• Maintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehicle
• Travel May be required
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills And Abilities

• Ability to operate a manual transmission, or have the willingness to learn
• Possess good customer service and can work independently

Education And Experience

• At least 21 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Hold a valid Driver's License with a good driving record which meets company standards

Physical Requirements

• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Ability to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, while moving freight on and off company vehicle
• Ability to lift and move freight weighing up to 100 pounds
• Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
