Job summary

Climax Molybdenum, a Freeport-McMoRan affiliate, seeks an operator to support heavy equipment functions in mining operations near Leadville, CO. Roles include de-watering, material delivery, berm maintenance and surface upkeep while maintaining safety protocols and shift readiness.

Three months of relevant experience and ability to follow English safety instructions are required. On-site work with a comprehensive benefits package and housing allowance eligibility are provided.

Responsibilities

  • Operates heavy equipment such as haul trucks, water trucks, dozers, graders and loaders.
  • Performs de-watering, materials delivery, berm maintenance and surface maintenance.
  • Receives training and feedback from supervisors and equipment trainers.
  • Completes required task training on various support equipment.
  • Performs pre-shift inspections and may assist with minor maintenance.

Description
What You Will Do
  • Performs duties related to the operation of heavy equipment in support of production including de-watering, materials delivery, maintaining berms, and surface maintenance.
  • Operates heavy equipment which may include but is not limited to: haul trucks, water trucks, rubber tire dozers, motor graders and front-end loaders
  • Receives training, mentoring, and feedback from other operators, supervisors, and equipment trainers
  • Must complete required task training on various support equipment
  • Responsible for understanding changes to assigned work areas and any potential hazards
  • Responsible for knowing the following procedures: start-up and shut-down, parking, mounting and dismounting, Lock-Out Tag-Out Try-Out (LOTOTO), emergency, fire, working with ground personnel, and Blue Stake
  • Communicates through computer dispatch system or two-way radio
  • Performs pre-shift inspection of equipment
  • May perform minor maintenance & operations support activities
  • Perform other duties as required
What You Bring To Freeport
  • Three (3) months experience in one of the following areas:
  • Mining/Manufacturing
  • Industrial Operations
  • Commercial Construction
  • Commercial Landscaping
  • Commercial Agriculture
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures and applicable safety standards
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $22.00 – $29.50/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
