Job summary

Aspiranet, one of California’s leading nonprofit organizations, is seeking compassionate Support Counselors to join our Bakersfield, CA team. You will provide direct support to youth and caregivers, implementing individualized plans that promote healing, stability, and growth.

In a team-based setting, you’ll document treatment progress with other professionals and build trusting relationships with clients, meeting 4-7 clients at optimal times.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field.
• Experience working in a mental health capacity with children and families is preferred, but not required.
• Meets all agency, funder, and regulatory employment requirements.

Pay Range: $22.00-$22.50/Hourly

The pay range for this position is $22.00- $22.50 per hour for employees hired in the Central Valley, CA. The pay range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired within the Central Valley region. Candidates hired in Southern California or Bay Area locations may have higher starting salaries due to cost of living and market data differences. Factors that may be used to determine your actual starting salary may include your education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, the market data for your work location, and internal comparison to other employees who hold a similar role.

This role provides direct support to youth and caregivers, implementing individualized plans that promote healing, stability, and growth. If you’re passionate about helping youth thrive in their homes and communities and want to make a lasting difference, this opportunity is for you.

By building a strong, positive, caring relationship, you’ll create a safe space for your client to share and seek guidance during challenging times. In our team-based setting, you’ll document and share the status and experiences of your treatment and intervention plans with other team members, which may include social workers, parent partners, program managers and clinicians to provide the best support for the youth.

Whether you are meeting with your client individually or in a family setting, you’ll build a trusting relationship with each of your clients. The flexible schedule allows you to meet with your 4-7 clients at optimal times. Just by the client knowing you believe in them, you become the catalyst that helps them improve. You'll see your clients improve their anger management skills, increase their self-esteem, improve their social skills and increase their social connections, and improve their impulse control in order to maintain their placement, avoid hospitalization or juvenile justice involvement and strengthen their resiliency, relationships, and family connectedness.
