Job summary

State of Missouri is hiring an Associate/Social Service Specialist within the Division of Developmental Disabilities. The role supports individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, aligning with state policies to promote access to services and resources.

You will work to ensure person-centered planning, collaboration with teams, and responsible use of funding sources for supports, including both paid and unpaid options.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; or a Bachelor’s Degree and 1–2 years of relevant experience; or a registered nurse.
  • Desired: Bachelor's degree as required per the TCM State Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Be a knowledgeable, adaptable, and ethical professional.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with individuals and their teams to promote effective communication and collaboration.
  • Enhance individuals’ capacity for self-direction by ensuring awareness of rights and responsibilities and facilitating access to resources.
  • Engage the team in a person-centered planning process that yields an integrated plan reflecting strengths, interests, needs, and desired outcomes.
  • Assist support teams in cultivating resources that meet the person’s needs, including paid and non-paid supports.
  • Facilitate the exploration and acquisition of paid supports from various funding sources and conduct in-person visits to monitor service quality and maximize support dollars.

Job description

Typical working hours: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The position may be hybrid, flexible, or no on‑call.

Travel is required within the St. Louis service area. The position will be domiciled at the Timberlake State Office Building (1390 Timberlake Manor Pkwy, Chesterfield, MO 63017).

Role Description

As an Associate/Social Service Specialist at the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), you will support persons with developmental disabilities and their families in line with state and national policies.
