Summary

This position is located in the Property Management Division within the Lifecycle Management of the Logistics Service at the Salem VA Medical Center and it's supported catchment areas. The primary purpose of the position is to ensure that non-expandable (NX) supplies and materials are distributed to areas serviced by Supply Chain Management.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement - 09/30/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation - but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year - it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade - as required by the announcement. In this instance - you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include - but are not limited to: providing equipment and material to clinical and/or administrative areas; scanning - bar-coding - receiving - storing - and distributing equipment and related material; utilizing an automated system to maintain equipment records; and answering customer questions regarding non-expandable equipment and materials. OR - Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed four (4) years of education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. OR - Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond beyond an associate's degree. Education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study - or 60 semester hours - beyond the second year is equivalent to one (1) year of specialized experience. Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday - and frequent reaching - bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). With proper assistance - moves heavier items weighing over 40 pounds. This level of physical demands occurs - for example - when employees are regularly assigned to activities such as tracing misplaced items or conducting physical inventories in warehouses - and other storage areas - or when they are regularly involved in stocking and retrieving items from shelves and cabinets.. Duties

• Duties include but are not limited to: Reviews existing stock and manufacturers' catalogs - manuals and listings to obtain substitute or interchangeable items to supply in lieu of items requisitioned


• Communicates with customers and vendors to obtain information regarding availability and functionality of non-expandable equipment and supplies


• Provides guidance to customers on identification of material through research of original equipment manufacturers part catalog for part numbers - descriptions - and size of parts needed


• Communicates to the lead or supervisor any concerns related to supplies - equipment and procedures - providing information as needed orally or in writing regarding customer or external stakeholder issues - general telephone inquiries and visitor referrals


• Receives non-expendable equipment and material into the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area


• Unpacks/uncrates supplies from shipping cartons and properly scans - bar codes - and stores supplies and material


• Stores items in accordance with established guidelines - utilizing a computerized inventory system - to ensure integrity of the supplies and material and the data integrity of the inventory management system


• Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized system of record systems to include but not limited to AEMS/MERS - SOARD/Maximo or similar non-expendable NX inventory management system


• Performs other duties as assigned
