Job summary

Millennium Space Systems, A Boeing Company, seeks a Supply Reliability Engineer to oversee quality signals for raw materials, components, and supplier performance across the supply chain. You will collaborate with Global Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to onboard and enhance supplier reliability throughout the product life cycle.

This role, labeled Quality Engineer, targets levels 3–4 and emphasizes root-cause analysis, process improvement, and sustaining supplier

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with 4+ years in manufacturing or quality engineering; 8+ years if no degree.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and avionics product manufacturing, assembly, test and inspection processes.
  • Ability to read drawings, interpret specifications, and contribute to procedures.
  • Understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
  • AS9100 quality standards knowledge; process auditing experience; statistical analysis experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with Production, Inspection, Shipping/Receiving, and Engineering to develop quality signals and processes.
  • Maintain quality processes for nonconforming materials and disposition at internal and supplier levels.
  • Lead containment actions, product traceability, and root cause analysis at supply chain level.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce risk and simplify designs to improve manufacturability with cross-functional teams.
  • Track yield, inspect escapes, and capture lessons learned for NPI.

Job Summary

The Supply Reliability Engineer will be responsible for the quality oversight raw materials, components, and special processes to support Millennium Space Systems’ mission. You will work across Global Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to onboard, development and enhance supplier performance, ensure material reliability, and improve supplier capability throughout the product life cycle.

This position's internal job code is Quality Engineer. Our team is currently hiring for levels 3-4.

Position Responsibilities
  • Interface with Production operations, Inspection, Shipping/Receiving, and Engineering teams to develop appropriate quality signals and processes to meeting overall program reliability goals
  • Maintain established quality processes and necessary procedures to ensure the identification, segregation, control, and disposition of all nonconforming materials, parts, components, and subassemblies at both the internal and supplier level
  • Lead containment actions for non-conforming products, including product traceability, coordination with Build Reliability Engineers on potential flight risks, and root cause analysis at the supply chain level.
  • Identify opportunities for risk reduction and removal of complexity in designs and processes to improve manufacturability, collaborating with integrated product teams to drive improvements and address high-impact and repeating non-conformances.
  • Responsible for tracking yield, test/inspection escapes, and ensuring past failures and lessons learned are incorporated into NPI.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field and 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing or quality engineering role, or 8+ years of direct work experience
  • Knowledge of mechanical and avionics product manufacturing, assembly, test and inspection processes
  • Ability to read drawings, interpret specifications, and provide technical input to assembly and test procedures
  • Understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies
  • Intermediate knowledge of AS9100 quality standards
  • Working knowledge of process auditing techniques to ensure compliance to defined quality requirements
  • Experience performing and applying statistical analysis methodologies
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, enthusiasm for the team’s spirit of innovation and mission of improving reliability in cutting-edge technology
  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials engineering, or electrical engineering
  • Demonstrated application of process controls in high volume manufacturing, test, and quality environment
  • Dedicated to adopting a Lean approach to quality without compromising safety or reliability
  • Knowledge of quality tools such as Lean principles, measurement systems analysis, design of experiments, statistical process control, root cause analysis and corrective action, advanced product quality planning (APQP), metrology, process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), control plans, and various problem-solving approaches
  • Experience developing or supporting any of the following products/processes:
  • Complex mechanical/structural assemblies
  • Advanced composites systems
  • Fluid component/valve assembly
  • Pre-preg lamination/curing composites
  • CNC machining, forming, bending
  • Bonding, drilling, fastening and other assembly manufacturing processes
  • Avionics integration and testing
  • Fluid system pressure testing
  • Welding (OTW)

Summary Pay Range:

  • Level 3: $107,100 - $157,500
  • Level 4: $130,900 - $192,500
