Job summary

Sara Lee Frozen Bakery is offering a 10-12 week Procurement Internship in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. You will hone analytical and strategic thinking by working on packaging, supplier relationships and market research, with senior leaders and peers.

The program emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, ERP data updates, and policy review. We seek a current student with strong Excel skills, MS Office proficiency, effective communication, and the ability to work in a hybrid setting from June to August

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a degree related to business, supply chain or economics.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Strong MS Excel skills and ability to interface with stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a hybrid schedule at Oakbrook Terrace from June to August 2027.

Responsibilities

• Support multiple projects in a fast-paced environment including packaging, ingredients, supplier relationships and a final presentation for senior leadership.
• Assist with packaging/ingredient project management and data gathering.
• Assess supplier relationship programs and provide recommendations for scope and tools.
• Conduct market research and provide insights to the category manager.
• Analyze packaging purchases for contract compliance and update ERP data in NetSuite.
• Review and update procurement policies as needed.

Summary:

The Sara Lee Frozen Bakery Procurement Internship program will provide the opportunity for an intern to hone analytical and strategic thinking skills while working on immersive and challenging projects. This is a 10-12-week summer program that seeks to help you develop an understanding of the food industry, learn about our company and its operations and appreciate how each discipline and department contributes to the success of our products and customer partnerships. You will have exciting professional and social engagement activities throughout the summer that provide the opportunity to work with senior leaders and network with your intern peers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute to a multitude of projects that emerge in a fast-paced environment including but not limited to packaging and ingredient, supplier relationship management, market research projects, and the final summer presentation project for the senior leadership team.
• Support project management and execution support for packaging and ingredient initiatives
• Assess Supplier Relationship Management program and evaluate in comparison to industry best practices. Provide recommendation on scope, tools, dashboards, resources etc. necessary to drive value for both SLFB and external supplier base.
• Conduct market research (micro and macro dynamics) that can impact packaging portfolio and provide insights to category manager.
• Conduct analysis of packaging purchases to ensure contract compliance for optimal buying compliance
• Update NetSuite (ERP) with packaging material MOQ data
• Review and update, as needed, the procurement policy document

Education Requirements:

• Current student
• Education curriculum focused on a degree relevant to the position applied for (Business, Supply Chain, Economics, and similar.)
• Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher (4.0 scale).
• Strong MS Office skills including advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with key stakeholders at every level of the business
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently
• Experience working in cross functional teams
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule in our Oakbrook Terrace headquarters office from June to August 2027. We are unable to provide relocation or housing assistance.
• Hourly rate: $20-$25
