Job summary

Univar Solutions is seeking a Supply Planner in Bedford Park, IL for a hybrid role focused on inventory planning and procurement cost optimization across the supply chain network.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree, strong Excel skills, and experience with integrated planning software. SAP experience is preferred, with a commitment to data accuracy and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Mathematics, Supply Chain/Operations, Finance or other related field.
• Strong Excel skills and data manipulation experience (graphs, pivots, VLOOKUPs).
• Knowledge of integrated planning software is highly desirable.
• Must possess very strong analytical skills and be detail oriented.
• Commit to process improvement and ability to perform root cause analysis.
• SAP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Balance inventory targets, service levels, forecast accuracy and safety stock for assigned SKUs.
• Liaise to resolve supply issues and ensure efficient delivery of inventory, service and cost objectives.
• Identify ways to improve supply planning processes using current tools.
• Ensure accuracy of purchase order data for Sales, Operations & Transportation teams.
• Meet customer demand and regional performance objectives.
• Use MRPs and other tools to review inventory projections and prevent shortages or excess inventory.
• Track inventory levels and suggest inventory parameter adjustments.
• Assess purchasing options and optimize loads to reduce costs.
• Review out of stock situations and recommend mitigations; use exception reports to identify issues.
• Conduct performance reviews with suppliers as needed.
• Track weekly/monthly metrics against targets.

The Supply Planner position is a highly visible supply chain role that's charged with coordinating and optimizing the inventory planning and procurement cost across the supply chain network.

What you'll do:

• Ability to balance the sometimes-conflicting goals of inventory targets, target customer service levels, forecast accuracy, and safety stock requirements for the allocated portfolio of SKU’s for which they are assigned.
• Key liaison to resolve supply issues and ensures the efficient delivery of inventory, service and cost objectives.
• Identify ways to improve supply planning processes by applying current tools.
• Responsible for ensuring accuracy of all purchase order data to support the Sales, Operations & Transportation Teams
• Meet customer demand and regional performance objectives.
• Proactively use MRP’s and other tools to review inventory projections & supply-demand summaries to prevent potential shortages or excessive inventory and demurrage
• Keep track of inventory levels and make suggestions on inventory parameters
• Ability to assess purchasing options, optimizing loads via combining various products onto a single order, pre-ordering as needed to reduce costs. Works with product marketing management on overall supply direction
• Review out of stock situations or shortage of supply issues and recommends mitigations. Uses exception reports to identify and resolve potential out of stock issues
• Conducts business and performance reviews with key suppliers on an ad-hoc basis
• Tracks and reconciles weekly/monthly metrics versus established targets

What you'll need:

• Bachelor's degree in business, Mathematics, Supply Chain/Operations, Finance or other related field, preferred
• Strong Excel skills required and experience with data manipulation - including graphs, pivots, vlookups, etc.
• Knowledge of integrated planning software highly desirable
• Must possess very strong analytical skills and be detailed oriented
• Commit to process improvement and ability to perform root cause analysis
• SAP experience preferred

• This is a hybrid based role that will report out of our Bedford Park, IL location -8500 W 68th Street Bedford Park, IL 60501

The salary range for this position is $58,420 - $73,030. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. Available employee benefits include health, vision, and dental. We also provide 401k matching for retirement and paid time off.
