Job summary

Steffes is seeking a Supply Chain Specialist to optimize the flow of goods, maintain inventory accuracy, and support procurement and logistics across the distribution network.

You will partner with sales, services, manufacturing, shipping & receiving, and logistics to ensure timely delivery and continuous improvement in material flow and warehouse operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics or related field.
• 3+ years previous experience in materials, inventory, procurement, planning, or logistics.
• Intermediate computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, ERP/MRP, Internet).

Position Summary

The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing the flow of purchased and manufactured products through the internal distribution network to ensure timely, cost-effective, and accurate delivery to customers. This role works closely with sales, services, manufacturing, shipping & receiving, and logistics to maintain inventory availability and support business objectives. This role serves as the inventory subject-matter expert, leading supermarket fulfillment, cycle counting, root cause analysis of discrepancies, and maintenance of material control and flow systems. They support material availability, inventory accuracy, and continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with company safety, quality, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. 1. Maintain appropriate and accurate physical and electronic/ERP inventory levels of sellable goods to prevent sales or service disruptions.
2. 2. Monitor inventory requirements and initiate replenishment activities.
3. 3. Responsible for creation and life cycle management of purchase orders for goods and services in alignment with demand, planning signals, and company procedures.
4. 4. Create and monitor intercompany transfer orders between distribution yard and remote sales locations.
5. 5. Support planning activities for site assembly and other value-added operations.
6. 6. Create, maintain, and execute cycle count schedules and ABC classifications as directed.
7. 7. Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and issue corrective actions in coordination with the Warehouse Supervisor.
8. 8. Monitor negative inventory reports and resolve underlying causes.
9. 9. Support year-end inventory activities, audits, and reconciliation efforts.
10. 10. Lead and support setup and maintenance of warehouse, bin, and location structures within ERP systems and physical warehouses/yards.
11. 11. Ensure material identification, labeling, and storage standards are maintained to support accuracy and traceability.
12. 12. Monitor and adjust warehouse bin locations, sizes, quantities, etc. in response to changes in Kanbans, safety stock, and min/max levels as directed.
13. 13. Collect and analyze inventory data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
14. 14. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy, material flow, and warehouse efficiency or as otherwise directed.
15. 15. Responsible for reviewing and processing nonconformance claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials or equipment ensuring supplier root cause analysis and corrective action are appropriate and effective.
16. 16. Follow established procedures and contribute to standardized work and documentation improvements.

19. 19. Position may require additional responsibility and ability to work overtime hours.

Job Requirements/Qualifications

• Bachelors’ Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics or related field.
• 3+ years previous experience in materials, inventory, procurement, planning, or logistics preferred.
• Intermediate computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, ERP/MRP, Internet).
• Intermediate math skills.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Travel standard - <10%

Functional & Cognitive Requirements

• This position requires walking, sitting or standing to a significant degree.
• Must have the ability to lift 70 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 100 pounds.

• Stooping, crouching, kneeling and bending.
