Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. in Palmdale, CA is seeking a Supply Chain Planning Specialist to support program production with material strategies and detailed forecasting. The role involves on‑site work with a 9/80 schedule and no telework, and requires the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

You will collaborate with program management, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure on‑time delivery of critical components while leading cost‑savings initiatives and ensuring quality. Travel is up to 10%.

Qualifications

Supply Chain Planning Specialist / Principal Supply Chain Planning Specialist

Location: Palmdale, CA or Melbourne, FL

Schedule: 9/80 work schedule – every other Friday OFF; no telework available

Organization: Global Supply Chain

Clearance: Secret clearance required (ability to obtain and maintain)

Travel: Yes, 10% of the time

Responsibilities

• Define and develop material strategies to support program and production needs.
• Assess supply chain resources; aggregate and prioritize demand requirements.
• Develop, coordinate, and execute material forecasts and delivery schedules.
• Participate in make/buy decisions, long‑term capacity and resource planning, product phase‑in/phase‑out, manufacturing ramp‑up, end‑of‑life and product‑line management.
• Lead affordability, cost‑savings, and/or process improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Program Management, Manufacturing, Procurement, Engineering, and Quality to resolve issues and meet manufacturing and test schedules.
• Analyze purchase material supply/demand positions using MRP tools.
• Analyze lead times and identify critical‑path procurements.
• Work with suppliers to ensure on‑time delivery at required quality levels for critical components.
• Prioritize and communicate impacts of current and potential material shortages.

Basic Qualifications (Level 2)

• Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience in Goods Movement, Subcontracts, Purchasing, Contracts, Finance, Logistics, Planning, or Project Management, or a Master’s Degree with 0 years experience – OR – 6 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.
• Ability to obtain special program access.

Basic Qualifications (Level 3)

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.
• Ability to obtain special program access.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years combined experience in Goods Movement, Subcontracts, Purchasing, Contracts, Finance, Logistics, Planning, or Project Management – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years combined experience in the same areas – OR – An additional 9 years of related work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP/MRP systems and experience working with and analyzing large data sets.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Experience with supplier management.
• Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to present information in an organized, effective manner.
• Advanced knowledge of SAP or similar ERP/MRP systems and complex data analysis.

Salary Range

Primary Level: $65,500 – $113,800.

Secondary Level: $81,400 – $141,200.

Salary offers may vary based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions.

Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and long‑term incentives for certain positions.
