Supply Chain Planning Manager

Professional Channahon, IL, US

28 days ago Requisition ID: 1071

Salary Range: $125,000.00 To $140,000.00 Annually

Job Title: Supply Chain Planning Manager

Reports to: VP Supply Chain

Position Summary

Valto is currently seeking a Supply Chain Planning Manager. This role is responsible for leading production scheduling and inventory planning across the organization’s manufacturing network. This role owns the strategy, processes, and systems used to determine how much to produce and when, and how much inventory to hold and where — ensuring the right products are available at the right time while minimizing excess inventory and production disruptions. This role does not own physical inventory management, cycle counting, or warehouse execution; it is focused on planning, scheduling strategy, and cross-functional coordination.

The Supply Chain Planning Manager leads a team of three Production Schedulers located across the company’s four manufacturing facilities, providing direction, standardizing planning processes, and ensuring alignment between production schedules, inventory targets, and overall business demand.

How you will make an impact:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage Production Schedulers at each manufacturing location, providing guidance, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Establish standardized scheduling processes, tools, and best practices across all manufacturing sites to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Review and approve site-level production schedules to ensure alignment with demand forecasts, inventory targets, capacity constraints, and customer commitments.
  • Partner with Plant/Operations Managers to resolve scheduling conflicts, capacity constraints, and production bottlenecks.
  • Monitor schedule adherence and attainment across sites, identifying root causes of variances and driving corrective actions.
  • Coordinate scheduling changes resulting from supply disruptions, equipment downtime, demand shifts, or new product introductions.

Inventory Planning

  • Develop and maintain inventory planning strategies, including target stocking levels, safety stock, and replenishment parameters for finished goods and, where applicable, raw materials/components.
  • Analyze demand trends, forecast data, and historical usage to set inventory targets that balance service level goals with working capital objectives.
  • Partner with Sales/Customer Service & Operations teams to translate demand forecasts into actionable inventory and production plans.
  • Identify and proactively manage risks related to excess/obsolete inventory, stockouts, and supply-demand imbalances.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine inventory planning parameters (e.g., min/max levels, reorder points, lead times) based on performance data.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting

  • Participate in and/or lead Planning meetings, providing visibility into production capacity, scheduling constraints, and inventory positions.
  • Partner with Procurement, Operations, Sales, and Finance to align supply plans with business objectives.
  • Develop and present key performance metrics (e.g., schedule attainment, inventory turns, fill rate, forecast accuracy) for senior leadership.
  • Support new product introductions, site transitions, and network capacity planning initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to planning processes, systems, and tools.
Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages the Production Schedulers at each manufacturing location (4 direct or indirect reports), including hiring, training, performance management, and ongoing development.

What you bring to the table:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in production scheduling, inventory/materials planning, or supply chain planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience leading, managing, or coordinating the work of a team, including remote/multi-site teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and demand/supply planning tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and translate it into actionable scheduling and inventory decisions.
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at multiple levels and across multiple sites.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with planning/reporting dashboards is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to manufacturing locations as needed.

Preferred

  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP).
  • Experience supporting or leading Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.
  • Experience working across a multi-site manufacturing network.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

This is a hybrid role, combining remote/office-based work with periodic travel to manufacturing locations. Primarily an office environment; occasional time on the production floor may be required when visiting sites.

We offer a comprehensive total rewards package that includes bonus eligibility and a competitive benefits program. This package includes employer-subsidized Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance; Short-Term and Long-Term Disability; 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, Health Savings Accounts, EAP, and Educational Assistance; Parental Leave, Paid Time Off (for vacation, personal business, sick time, and parental leave), and 11 Paid Holidays.

For this role, we anticipate paying $125,000 to $140,000 per year plus bonus. Placement within the range considers experience, skills, and internal equity.
