Jobbeschreibung

IRISS is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Planning Manager to support our manufacturing operations in Bradenton, Florida.

The Supply Chain Planning Manager owns the master production schedule, daily production planning, material requirements planning, supplier delivery planning and control, and short- and long-term capacity planning for IRISS manufacturing operations in the United States. The role converts customer requirements into achievable production schedules supported by available materials, labor, equipment, and supplier commitments.

Working closely with Production, Purchasing, Sales, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics, this manager improves delivery performance, reduces past-due orders, prevents material shortages, and controls inventory and work in process. The role leads planning personnel as assigned and establishes clear priorities, reliable planning data, and timely escalation of risks.

Primary Responsibilities
Daily Production Planning and Control
  • Own the master production schedule for all production processes and direct daily and weekly schedules by work center, shift, and product family, with clear quantities, priorities, and completion dates.
  • Create and release work orders after confirming material readiness, current drawings and revisions, routing requirements, and available capacity.
  • Lead a daily planning review with Production to compare plan versus actual, resolve constraints, and assign recovery actions with owners and due dates.
  • Monitor work order progress, aging, queue time, and work in process; coordinate timely completion, transaction accuracy, and closure of orders.
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog recovery plan. Coordinate changes to customer priorities and delivery commitments with Sales and Operations and control schedule changes within agreed planning time fences.
Material Requirements Planning
  • Translate production schedules and demand into time-phased requirements for raw materials, purchased components, subassemblies, and outside processing.
  • Review MRP exceptions and identify shortages, late receipts, excess supply, and required expedite, defer, or cancellation actions.
  • Maintain a daily material shortage report showing affected orders, required dates, confirmed recovery dates, owners, and production impact.
  • Validate usable inventory, reservations, open purchase orders, and incoming receipts; distinguish available stock from quality-held or otherwise unavailable material.
Supplier Planning and Control
  • Provide suppliers with rolling demand schedules and delivery requirements, coordinating purchase order placement and changes with Purchasing.
  • Obtain and track supplier acknowledgments, committed quantities, shipment dates, transit status, and arrival dates against production requirements.
  • Review critical suppliers regularly for delivery performance, capacity, lead times, and supply risks. Require recovery plans for late or constrained supply and elevate unresolved gaps.
  • Coordinate supplier expedites, partial deliveries, alternate supply proposals, and outside-processing schedules with Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, and Logistics. Obtain required approvals before substitutions or additional spending.
Short- and Long-Term Capacity Planning
  • Maintain a detailed near-term schedule and a rolling capacity outlook, typically 2 to 13 weeks, extending material visibility through the longest critical supplier lead time.
  • Compare required load with demonstrated capacity by work center and shift using cycle times, setup times, staffing, equipment availability, and expected yield. Maintain a longer-term capacity outlook aligned with forecast demand, growth plans, staffing needs, and equipment investment decisions.
  • Identify bottlenecks and propose feasible recovery options such as resequencing, overtime, shift changes, cross-training, outsourcing, or alternate equipment for leadership approval.
  • Assess the delivery impact of new demand, engineering changes, equipment downtime, and supplier delays before committing to schedule changes. Provide capacity and supply inputs to SIOP.
Inventory and Planning System Control
  • Recommend and maintain approved safety stock, reorder points, order quantities, lead times, and planning parameters based on demand, variability, supply risk, and service requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering and Production to validate bills of material, routings, cycle times, and revision control; partner with Inventory and Finance to resolve discrepancies and improve transaction discipline.
  • Reduce excess inventory, obsolete materials, unnecessary work order releases, and aging work in process while protecting production continuity.
  • Use ERP and reporting tools as the planning system of record. Support planning data cleanup, testing, migration, and user training during system changes.
Planning Leadership and Cross Functional Coordination
  • Establish standard planning routines, train assigned planners, and maintain clear responsibilities, escalation rules, and follow-through on open actions.
  • Publish one coordinated production plan and communicate material, capacity, and delivery risks early. Work with Shipping to confirm completed orders are ready for dispatch and with Sales to resolve delivery priorities or holds.
Qualifications and Core Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations, industrial engineering, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Progressive manufacturing planning experience; typically, 5 to 8 years in production and material planning, including leadership of planning activities or personnel.
  • Hands-on knowledge of MRP, production scheduling, supplier delivery control, capacity planning, inventory management, and work order execution in a high-mix manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ERP and Excel skills; Rootstock or NetSuite experience and APICS CPIM or CSCP certification are preferred. Sheet metal fabrication, assembly, or electrical product manufacturing experience is beneficial.
  • Analytical judgment, clear communication, disciplined follow-through, collaborative leadership, and the ability to resolve competing priorities under delivery pressure.
Initial Performance Goals
During the first 90 to 180 days, the manager will:
  • Establish a reliable daily production schedule and plan-versus-actual review with clear recovery actions.
  • Create a consolidated shortage and supplier commitment tracker linked to affected production and customer orders.
  • Validate critical planning parameters and establish a rolling capacity review for constrained work centers.
  • Implement a coordinated past-due recovery plan and improve visibility of work order aging and work in process.
  • Baseline the measures below, agree improvement targets with Operations leadership, and publish a weekly planning dashboard.
Measures of Success

Production Planning: Schedule attainment and adherence; recovery action completion; reduction in unplanned schedule changes.

Customer Delivery: On-time delivery against agreed commitments; reduction in past-due order value and aging, shared with Operations and Sales.

Material Readiness: Material availability at planned work order release; shortage-related downtime and number of critical shortages.

Supplier Control: On-time delivery against required dates; reliability of supplier commitments; closure of supplier recovery actions.

Capacity and Inventory: Early identification of capacity gaps; work order and WIP aging; inventory turns and excess or obsolete inventory.

Planning Data: Accuracy of lead times, planning parameters, and work order status; timely resolution of MRP exceptions.

Accountability

This role owns planning, schedule coordination, shortage visibility, and supplier delivery follow-up. Production owns safe execution and output; Purchasing owns commercial negotiations and authorized purchasing commitments; Engineering and Quality approve technical changes and material acceptance. Unresolved delivery, capacity, or spending decisions are escalated to Operations leadership.
