Job summary

Greenfield Industries, Inc. is seeking a Supply Chain Planner/Buyer to manage procurement of machinery, equipment, tools, and services for our Clemson operations. You will plan production flow, maintain accurate inventory, and execute sourcing activities to meet demand.

The role requires ERP/MRP proficiency (SAP or Microsoft D365), at least 2 years in a planner/buyer role, and strong data analysis. Lean/Six Sigma knowledge is a plus; APICS is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management/Logistics or related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Microsoft D365).
  • Minimum 2 years as a supply planner-buyer or similar role.
  • System/data analysis and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma; APICS preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Improves value stream material flow to meet customer demand requirements.
  • Maintains MRP planning data to ensure system performance.
  • Monitors inventories, customer demand, and production levels.
  • Production scheduling activities by monitoring material inventories and progress.
  • Responsible for timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
  • Coordinates corrective actions in response to vendor issues.
  • Evaluates, monitors, and reports supplier scorecard performance.
  • Maintains relationships and communication with the supplier base.
  • Adheres to company policies, procedures, terms, and legal matters.

Job description

The Supply Chain Planner/Buyer is responsible for the purchased machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, or services necessary for the operation of an establishment. The Planner/Buyer is also responsible for planning the production of and the flow of materials and the purchasing actions for a defined value stream segment. The Planner/Buyer ensures that accurate and appropriate inventory levels are maintained.

  • Improves value stream material flow to meet customer demand requirements
  • Maintains MRP planning data to ensure system performance
  • Monitors inventories, customer demand, and production levels
  • Production scheduling activities by monitoring material inventories, tracking progress and production and reviewing factors that affect schedules
  • Responsible for the timely execution of product and services sourcing activities
  • Responds to NCPs for vendor supplied goods and coordinates corrective actions
  • Evaluates, monitors, and reports supplier scorecard performance
  • Maintains relationship and communication with supplier base
  • Adheres to established company policies, procedures, terms, conditions and legal matters
Position Responsibilities- Non-Essential/Other
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management/Logistics or another related discipline.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment (SAP, Microsoft D365)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a supply planner-buyer or similar role.
  • System/data analysis and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other similar Continuous Improvement concepts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • APICS Certification preferred.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Experience with databases and query language to manipulate Microsoft D365, Excel.
  • Highly Detail Oriented.
  • Demonstrate acceptable written and verbal communication skills.
  • Work independently and productively.
Beneficial Skills and Experience
  • Ability to lead projects involving team members that do not report to this role.
