Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive healthcare supply chain leadership experience.
  • Experience leading multi-site healthcare supply chain operations.
  • Proven success in improving standardization, inventory optimization, and performance metrics.
  • Experience managing operational budgets, KPIs, and resource planning.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Based in the Atlanta area, the Director, Supply Chain Operations is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational performance, and continuous advancement of enterprise supply chain operations across the health system. Reporting to the Vice President of Supply Chain, this leader provides oversight for all facility operations, centralized distribution, logistics, inventory management, warehousing, receiving, internal transportation, point-of-use replenishment, procurement operations, and supply chain technology supporting hospitals, ambulatory locations, and other care sites.

This position is accountable for developing a high-performing, customer-focused operating model that ensures uninterrupted product availability, inventory optimization, operational efficiency, workforce engagement, and exceptional service delivery. Working collaboratively with clinical, operational, financial, and supply chain leaders, the Director drives standardization, operational excellence, automation, and continuous improvement while ensuring supply chain operations support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

What you will do in this role includes:
Enterprise Supply Chain Operations Leadership
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for supply chain operations across all facilities, distribution locations, and centralized warehouse operations
  • Direct execution of supply chain operational strategies, initiatives, and programs aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Lead facility operations, receiving, inventory management, replenishment, logistics, internal distribution, transportation, and centralized warehouse functions
  • Establish annual operational goals, work plans, milestones, and performance objectives for supply chain operations.
  • Develop and continuously improve the enterprise operating model for supply chain operations across all hospitals, ambulatory locations, and centralized distribution services
  • Establish standardized operating practices, policies, and performance expectations across all supply chain operational functions
  • Lead operational planning, integration, and implementation for new facilities, acquisitions, renovations, expansions, and major organizational initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, infection prevention practices, and organizational policies governing supply chain operations (Joint Commission, OSHA, FDA, CMS, Hazardous Materials, Infection Prevention)
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
  • Oversee inventory management strategies, including par optimization, replenishment methodologies, inventory investment, utilization monitoring, and inventory accuracy
  • Establish standardized operational practices across all hospitals to improve consistency, efficiency, and customer experience
  • Develop workforce strategies that optimize staffing, productivity, employee engagement, safety, and customer service
  • Direct centralized warehouse operations including receiving, inventory control, slotting optimization, automation, pick/pack/ship operations, fleet coordination, courier services, reverse logistics, and distribution planning
  • Ensure effective execution of internal and external distribution strategies and inventory management practices.
  • Support business continuity by maintaining operational readiness and reliable supply distribution capabilities
Supply Chain Resiliency and Operational Readiness
  • Develop contingency plans for supply disruptions
  • Lead operational response during product shortages
  • Ensure emergency preparedness and build resilient distribution capabilities
Financial Stewardship & Performance Management
  • Develop and manage operating plans, budgets, and resource allocation strategies for areas of responsibility.
  • Optimize labor productivity, inventory investment, transportation costs, warehouse operating expenses, and operational efficiency while maintaining service excellence
  • Monitor operational and financial performance using established KPIs and benchmarks.
  • Support achievement of financial goals through inventory optimization, standardization, utilization improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement & Customer Service
  • Develop and manage operating plans, budgets, and resource allocation strategies for areas of responsibility.
  • Optimize labor productivity, inventory investment, transportation costs, warehouse operating expenses, and operational efficiency while maintaining service excellence
  • Monitor operational and financial performance using established KPIs and benchmarks.
  • Support achievement of financial goals through inventory optimization, standardization, utilization improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with physicians, clinicians, operational leaders, finance leaders, and executive stakeholders.
  • Partner with nursing, procedural services, ancillary departments, and operational leaders to continuously improve service levels and operational responsiveness
  • Serve as a key liaison and problem solver for operational, inventory, distribution, and utilization-related issues.
  • Partner with sourcing, contracting, analytics, and value analysis leaders to support standardization, contract compliance, and implementation efforts.
  • Promote a customer-focused culture that delivers responsive and reliable service throughout the organization.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, and development for supply chain operations leaders and staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop organizational capabilities through talent planning, succession planning, coaching, and leadership development.
  • Lead teams through operational change, transformation initiatives, and organizational priorities.
Analytics, Systems & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain operational dashboards, KPIs, and management reporting tools.
  • Lead optimization and effective utilization of supply chain technologies including ERP, WMS, RFID, point-of-use systems, automation technologies, and mobile inventory solutions
  • Monitor operational performance metrics including inventory turns, days on hand, service levels, contract compliance, and supply expense performance.
  • Provide regular updates and performance reporting to supply chain and organizational leadership.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, Finance, or related field.
  • Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, or related field).
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare supply chain operations, logistics, distribution, inventory management, or related field.
  • Experience leading supply chain operations within a multi-site healthcare system or integrated delivery network (IDN).
  • Experience leading facility supply chain operations, warehouse/distribution operations, or a combination of both functions.
  • Demonstrated success leading operational improvement, standardization, inventory optimization, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Experience developing and managing operational budgets, KPIs, and performance metrics.
  • Experience leading and developing leaders, managers, and frontline teams within a complex healthcare environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
