Job summary

Astranis in San Francisco is seeking a Supply Chain Manager to lead software procurement and indirect sourcing. You will partner with Engineering, IT, Security, Finance, Legal, and Operations to develop sourcing strategies, analyze licensing models, and optimize cost, functionality, and vendor performance.

Based in Northern California, you will own end-to-end software licensing, SaaS contracts, cloud services, and strategic relationships, while building category strategies and reducing total

  • 3+ years of professional experience in software procurement, strategic sourcing, indirect procurement, vendor management, or related supply chain disciplines.
  • Experience negotiating software licensing agreements, SaaS subscriptions, cloud services, and tech contracts.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating spend data, utilization, licensing models, and supplier performance.
  • Incredibly detail-oriented with multi-contract ownership and vendor management.
  • Excellent communication skills across Engineering, IT, Security, Finance, Legal, and Operations teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full lifecycle of software procurement from requirements to renewal and vendor management.
  • Partner with Engineering, IT, Security, Finance, Legal, and Operations to develop software sourcing strategies and optimize cost, licensing, and vendor performance.
  • Own indirect procurement with emphasis on enterprise software, SaaS, cloud services, and technology subscriptions.
  • Analyze software spend, evaluate supplier performance, identify consolidation opportunities, and develop cost-saving alternatives.
  • Own end-to-end RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes for software and strategic indirect purchases with documented commercial terms.
  • Lead negotiations for NDAs, SOWs, MSAs, and software licensing agreements.
  • Evaluate suppliers based on commercial, technical, security, compliance, and operational criteria to balance requirements and value.
  • Develop category strategies for software procurement and other technology categories.
  • Monitor market trends and pricing to identify opportunities, risks, and optimization initiatives.
  • Develop sourcing strategies and long-term partnerships with strategic software vendors.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to manage renewals, license compliance, and supplier performance.

Supply Chain Manager - Software & Indirect

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading the company's software procurement and indirect sourcing activities, developing strategic supplier relationships, and implementing efficient sourcing strategies that optimize cost, compliance, and operational performance across the organization.

Role
  • Manage the full lifecycle of software procurement, from requirements gathering and vendor evaluation through contract negotiation, renewal, and ongoing vendor management.
  • Partner with Engineering, IT, Security, Finance, Legal, and Operations teams to develop software sourcing strategies, evaluate technology solutions, analyze licensing models, and optimize cost, functionality, and vendor performance.
  • Serve as the primary owner for indirect procurement activities with a strong emphasis on enterprise software, SaaS applications, cloud services, and technology subscriptions, while supporting other indirect spend categories including equipment, employee benefits, and professional services.
  • Analyze software and indirect spend, evaluate supplier performance, identify consolidation opportunities, optimize software licensing, and develop sourcing alternatives that maximize value and reduce total cost of ownership.
  • Own the end-to-end RFI, RFP, and RFQ process for software and strategic indirect purchases, ensuring commercial terms are negotiated and appropriately documented.
  • Lead negotiations for NDAs, Statements of Work (SOWs), Master Service Agreements (MSAs), software licensing agreements, and other commercial contracts before business is initiated.
  • Evaluate suppliers based on commercial, technical, security, compliance, and operational criteria, providing recommendations that balance business requirements, cost, and long-term value.
  • Develop and execute category strategies for software procurement, including SaaS, cloud services, enterprise applications, and other technology categories.
  • Monitor software market trends, emerging technologies, licensing models, vendor roadmaps, and pricing to proactively identify opportunities, risks, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Develop sourcing and negotiation strategies that achieve business objectives while building strong, long-term partnerships with strategic software vendors and service providers.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to manage software renewals, license compliance, contract obligations, and supplier performance throughout the vendor lifecycle.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or a related discipline (or comparable experience).
  • Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in software procurement, strategic sourcing, indirect procurement, vendor management, or related supply chain disciplines.
  • Experience negotiating software licensing agreements, SaaS subscriptions, cloud services, and commercial technology contracts.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating spend data, software utilization, licensing models, and supplier performance.
  • Incredibly detail-oriented—the type of person who thrives on managing multiple contracts, renewals, and vendor relationships while maintaining exceptional organization.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, IT, Security, Finance, Legal, and Operations teams.

Astranis pay ranges are informed and defined through professional-grade salary surveys and compensation data sources. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, and the level and scope of the position.

$110,000 - $165,000 USD
